Wow so that's what Knuckles hands really look like ._. It probably would not be a disability as long as they still had thumbs though.

they do it for perspective, sometime if you don't draw things right the hand would look weird with five fingers, so they go the easy route and draw four, so yeah basically laziness

What I'd really like to know is what he's saying in that panel. He's wiggling his fingers like he's studying them, possibly wondering why he has spikes on his hands.

I remember that issue; I think he's talking to his father in the comics and mentioning something about how he thought every guardian had Knuckles like his, and comes to find out that he's really genetically engineered in a sense. Well he was born and hatched like any other echidna, except his father did some biological experiments on himself to make a biologically enhanced offspring so when his mother carried him, that's what he'd be. And also he exposed Knuckles to Chaos energy when he was still inside the egg. So pretty much, Ken Penders God modded Knuckles and overglorified him. I kind of like the games Knuckles better, because he made Knuckles way too powerful and god-like in the comics.
