The fanbases are way too strict about EVERYTHING. They refuse something GOOD, like Sonic 4. It's what SEGA listened to fans for, what fans asked to be in it, and it's STILL NOT GOOD?
How about you just pull of one simple prank, "Sonic will now stop being produced" or whatever, and let the fanbases totally complain more? (I'm sarcastic.)
Just forget them, I'm with the new generation. Nothing is perfect forever, just play it and shut up.

There were alot of hits in the beginning, very true and agreeable
(as a personal view though, ShadTH was more of a gimmick game than a sonic game, tying up what was left off from sa2 and explaining shad a bit, so i wouldn't count it)
I started to throw up at the s4 part though, saying everything was perfect and gave everything the fans wanted, as well as the other points he made.
The fanbase parts, he only talks about our bad side, and calls the community as a whole such.
From what i understand, he put us as whining babies that can't be satisfied because sonic's eyes are green and other things that we can't point out

but this is all i have to comment about it...

if you were a real sonic fan, you'd love all of his games and everything!
and... its just a little sad that most of these people don't accept change in life.... SEGA's just trying things out here, and hearing all of the feedback, to know what to make or not, (and lets hope they are not listening to the wrong people here...)
but in my opinion, i think all of the sonic games made are completely awesome... i just think SEGA didn't want the hassle of making a console every 3-7 years... its really tough work... (and ever since the extreme graphic processors the PS3 and Xbox have, it'd be like throwing a bouncy ball, and have it bounce right back to your face...
)
but i guess to wrap this up, if you like sonic, like him, if you don't, dont do anything about it, you can't do anything to manipulate SEGA to make what you want...
as the old saying goes... if you want something done right... do it yourself...
(Oh and i just want to say, maybe people are complaining about the characters and stories because its a little too similar to the dragonball series... but hey, i could tell you 1000 things that would copy other things...)

Love all Sonic games, and urging to play the games that I don't have, I will stand by Sonic all the way if I have to, but at least SEGA and Sonic Team likes to mix it up with the different gameplays and styles other than Halo, which is the same exact gameplay with many other first person shooters just added locations, weapons and vehicles, everything else stays the same through the series and gets old quickly after awhile.
The Sonic games itself has a thousand uses, you can hit people over the head with them as it can be used to drive away dumb fans that want something different and then complain when they get! >.<

You have a lot of good points Specc. It would get boring after a while if Sonic just had the same kind of gameplay. Perhaps we could create a disk launcher, and impale the people who complain about the games with the games themselves! 
I totally agree, I think that the true Sonic fans are the ones who love his games. And I too will stick beside the blue hedgehog.
The article had some valid arguments though. It's the people who are insane like that and act childish that make the Sonic fans look bad. It's the kids who don't complain, they love Sonic. It's not because they're dumb, it's because they accept Sonic for who he is. I'm tired of the fans saying the games aren't good enough. The kids are Sega's main source of revenue, so of COURSE they're going to listen to the kids!
But there are normal fans out there. We are proof of that. We're the exception to the mainstream. But that's ok, I hate conforming anyway. lol. The true fans are the ones who stick by Sonic no matter what, not complain about every last detail of the games. The ones who say the only true fans of Sonic out there are the ones who only play the old games have created a false dilemma. And I've seen some like that out there. Some of them are SatAM fans. Don't get me wrong, I loved SatAM, but that doesn't mean I can't like any other Sonic story out there. In any case...it's kind of sad when a five year old acts more mature than someone in their 20s. XD;

I totally agree with this article. A lot of us need to grow up and be...well, more like the kiddie Sonic fans ^^
I also accept Sonic the way he is. Mainly because that's my personality, but also because I became a fan later than most. Heck, the first Sonic game I've ever owned after Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was Sonic and the Secret Rings o.o
I even got 'original' Sonic game for GBA. I liked it, even though one of my friends told me it was no good because of the glitchy slow-downs and the controls.
Heck, I even like The Secret Rings because it had something awesome to it. Even though some levels were near impossible, I played it.
