Let's discuss Blaze the Cat!

So who here loves Blaze the cat? As you know she's my favorite character. And what's not to love? She's a purple pyrokinetic feline, she's got that tough chick attitude, she's totally modest and the first female Sonic character to go Super. Oh yeah, did I mention she's a kitty?
She's my favorite character anyway so I thought I'd make a topic about her.

Yeah, but Blaze belongs to the future and stuff, so it wouldn't really work.

I admire Blaze's qualities as an individual. I believe she's the only female over 13 that doesn't act like a...creep. At any rate, Blaze's fire powers make her unique in the fact that no other character has those abilities, she's a strong, independent girl who can hold her own in any battle, which makes her a powerful ally. Of course I have to wonder what would happen if she used the Chaos Emeralds instead of the Sol Emeralds to go super. As for the kitty thing, all cats make me and I mean literally. Blaze is an awesome character, but if she gets too close to Sonic, I'm gonna be unhappy.

You havn't played Rush have you? Blaze originally came from another dimention. The Sonic '06 story didn't happen.

Yeah that's true, it is off topic. But Siamese aren't exotic pets. They're a breed of domestic cat. A very popular breed in fact. I thought everyone knew that. O.o

I guess it just depends on what you want to consider canon. I consider the Rush series canon, I don't consider '06 canon.

I wouldn't really know. I've only seen video clips of the parts with Silver and Blaze and the ending. I havn't actually played the game.
So I have an idea of what the story was, and how Silver interacted with Blaze. I still think they were just brotherly/sisterly toward each other. Possibly child hood friends but nothing more. Silver looks up to her, and Blaze seems to feel an obligation to take care of Silver. Just like siblings do.

I think it was. I hope she makes more appearences in the newer games. She was one of the few good characters, so Sega better not ditch her.
I'm also hoping they'll make a toy of her. I found this blog once where you could request toys of characters that havn't been made yet, and a lot of people including myself were asking for Blaze.

There's too many unanswered questions about Blaze I would say. I...really don't know enough about her to have a decent discussion.

Which is why I think there should be more appearances of her, so we can find out little by little more about her and her world.

Alright...the reason I'm bumping this topic is because...do you guys think Blaze is an underdeveloped, cliche, and Mary-sueish?
I really don't think so...but this guy on Deviant art kinda ticked me off because not only was he dissing on my favorite character, but he was also saying that I didn't know what a fleshed out character was.
I did get kind of angry and defensive, but then he just says how people have been dissing on his favorite character for the past 7/8 years. Seriously? And now they're just going to insult Blaze because of that?
He said Blaze is a rip off of Knuckles, and he acted kind of annoying and immature. Certainly Blaze shares a lot in common with Knuckles (the guardian role, stubbornness, etc.) but a rip off? A copy?
What do you guys think? I honestly think Blaze is the best female character in the series, but to be told that I lack the ability to spot out a fleshed out and interesting character...? What the heck...-_-
Anyway this is a semi-rant but it's on topic...and I didn't think creating a new topic was necessary for this when we already have this Blaze topic.

Blaze? Mary-Sue? Far from it. That guy's just too serious about the games.

Then again, I think a LOT of Sonic fans are too serious about the games ._.

Yeah, Blaze is one of the few recent characters that doesn't completely suck. I haven't really played much with her in, but she seems pretty cool to me, none the less. As for her being an 'undeveloped character', she's probably one of the most developed recently characters in the series. Like you said, she was the first female character to turn super afterall... SEGA don't hand that title out to just anyone.

But this same person said Silver was a fleshed out character. Really? Silver's just a rip off of Trunks from Dragonball Z (trying to save the future anyone?), psychic powers are SOOOOO cliche and it's not like the series needed ANOTHER hedgehog. We already have Sonic the ORIGINAL hedgehog, Amy Rose, and Shadow as Sonic's rival.
Then this guy had the nerve to say that I didn't know anything about fleshed out character...>.< So just because I have a difference in opinion when it comes to favorite characters...I don't know anything about fleshed out characters? The nerve of this guy. -_-; It says he's 19 but personally I think he acted more like he was 12...

Okay, that guy was out of order for being so cruel about your favourite character n' all, but perhaps you retaliated a little agressively? While I'll admit that Silver isn't the most in-depth character about, I'm not sure I would've gone as far as to say that he's 'a douche' (pardon my language). Though, this guy probably shouldn't have stated such harsh opinions, particularly on a site such as DeviantArt.
Still, you were just defending your favourite character, and he was far from in the right. It's people like him that give us Sonic fans a bad name.
